Iris and Roman are rival journalists and, without realizing it, secret pen pals, writing letters back and forth through an enchanted wardrobe door. Set against a war between two gods who are using mortals as soldiers, this one is a favorite for my teen reader who loves a moody, autumnal atmosphere and a slow-burn romance. It does touch on real grief and loss, so it can read a little older than a typical YA pick. Ages 13+
